What is a heated tank?

A heated tank is a custom-made stainless steel tank equipped with an integrated heating system. These tanks are designed to maintain liquids or products at a constant temperature or to heat them according to specific process requirements.

Heated tanks are essential in industrial applications where precise temperature control is crucial for product quality, process continuity, and operational safety.

Controlled heating prevents issues such as coagulation and crystallisation, maintains optimal viscosity, and limits microbial growth. Depending on the product and required heating capacity, tanks can be equipped with electric tracing, heating coils, or hot water circuits.

  • Storage & Terminals: For bulk products such as chemicals, edible oils and other bulk storage produts, we supply heated tanks up to 30 metres in diameter and height. These tanks ensure precise temperature control throughout the entire logistics chain.
  • Oleochemicals​: Our heated tanks prevent solidification and maintain consistent processability of animal and vegetable oils and fats, supporting efficient and reliable production processes.
  • Petrochemicals​: For temperature-sensitive substances, we deliver heated chemical tanks up to 12,500 m³, fully compliant with PED, EN 13445, and API 650 standards to meet industry-specific requirements.
  • Bio-energy​: In digestion processes and other bio-energy applications, our heated tanks — up to 30 metres in height — ensure stable and reliable processing conditions for optimal energy recovery.

Heating techniques and insulation for heated tanks

Depending on the application, the most suitable heating method is selected to ensure efficient and reliable temperature control:

  • Electric tracing​: Ideal for precise local temperature control, especially in smaller tanks or specific zones.
  • Heating coils​: Integrated into or placed inside the tank for direct heat transfer to the product — ideal for viscous or fast-solidifying media.
  • External heat exchangers​: Used when heating must be kept separate from the tank contents, ensuring safe and efficient thermal management.


All heated tanks are insulated with high-quality materials: mineral wool on the shell and top, and foamglass at the bottom for extra protection against rising moisture and heat loss. After insulation, the tanks are finished with aluminium or stainless steel cladding.
